Mat and Rewa’s wedding was sooooo much fun. Complete with an array of food stalls (we’re talking all our favourite things from paella to pulled pork tacos, from churros to ice creams) this fact alone makes for an insanely good wedding in our eyes! But teamed with the most beautiful hanging flowers, decorative pineapples, floral crowns and held at the beautiful Figtree Restaurant in Byron Bay, the setting was as much of a feast (for the eyes) as the food was!

When we first met Rewa and Mat they visited us at our home and we got to know them over cheese, copious amounts of wine (I hope your headache wasn’t as bad as mine the next day Rewa) and Mat’s spot on observation that our dog looks like Samuel L Jackson. So even though this is one accomplished duo of surgeon/ultra-marathon runners, our favourite thing about them is without a doubt their sense of humour.

We literally could not wait for their wedding and it was ah-mazing! We’ve mentioned it before but we really can’t drill this fact home enough, just how important your vows, choosing the perfect celebrant (in this case, the fabulous Cara of ‘Modern Love Ceremonies’) and in particular, your speeches are, to us being able to truly ‘tell your story’ through your film. Well with that in mind we could not contain our excitement when Rewa and her brother gave the most heartfelt, witty and eloquent speeches ever… I have cried a considerable amount of times throughout the editing process.

As if all of the above wasn’t enough though, in the one single day we were gifted with sunshine, rain, moody clouds, clear starry night skies and even a rainbow. The powers that be obviously wanted Rewa and Mat to have a rad film and killer photos of their wedding day that’s for sure. Talking of photos, we were super lucky to work alongside Sarkodie Photography and man oh man you have gotta check out his unbelievable photos… right after you watch our film of course…
